Two kinds of imidazolium bromides were designed and synthesized,namely 1,3-bis(3,5-bis(methoxycarbonyl)benzyl) imidazolium bromide(1) and 1,3-bis(3,5-bis(methoxycarbonyl)benzyl) benzimidazolium bromide(2),and the structure was characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance(1H NMR),infrared spectroscopy(IR) and thermogravimetric analysis(TG).Two imidazolium bromide salts were used in the cycloaddition reaction of CO2 with styrene oxide.Experimental studies have shown that when the amount of the two catalysts is 3%(mole fraction),the reaction temperature is 100 ℃,solvent-free and 1 atm CO2(balloon),compounds 1 and 2 catalyzed the reactions of CO2 and styrene oxide to produce styrene cyclic carbonate with yields of 83% and 86%,respectively.Both catalysts are easily recyclable and structurally characterized by 1H NMR.Catalyst 1 can be recycled for 6 times without a significant decrease in yield,and catalyst 2 can be recycled for times,and the yield can still be maintained 78%.
